Can I permanently color my hair a year after using henna?

I used henna a year ago but I didn’t cut my hair so the color is still in but the top is my natural Hair Color. I want to color it natural chestnut with a permanent hair dye I found in an organic store called Naturtint. It says it has no ammonia and says it has natural and organic ingredients so I thought it would be safe to color my hair with it but it says on the FAQ: “Can I use Naturtint if my hair has been previously coloured with henna or a progressive colour?” “Yes, but only once the previous colouration has been completely removed from the hair.”

The henna they are referring to is known as compound henna. This is henna with chemicals and other adulterants like metallic salts. There are tons of this on the market and a lot of people don’t know how to tell what’s all-natural henna and what isn’t, or they just don’t know what henna is. As long as you used 100% natural henna last year, you will be fine.
